In-person Conference Session - Safe Practices in Dental Care

ABOUT
This is a live, in-person conference session at the National Network for Oral Health Access' (NNOHA) national conference in Baltimore, Maryland. The Centers for Disease Control provides expectations for safe care for dental practices. This conference addresses building an infection prevention and control (IPC) program in a health center dental department that addresses personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, injections, sharps, and sterilization and disinfection procedures. The seminar will review assigning roles and responsibilities to everyone on the team using project management tools. Measuring and reporting success with the IPC program will also be highlighted. The seminar aligns with the Health Center Performance Improvement domain of Quality, Patient Care, and Safety as it addresses the safety of dental practices.

Nancy McLean is a Regulatory Compliance & Quality Senior Advisor at Renaye James Healthcare Advisors and a Hospital/Nursing Home Executive with over twenty (20) years of progressive leadership in the healthcare field. She has demonstrated successful outcomes in hospital, ambulatory, and long-term care organizations.
Nancy is an expert in assisting practices obtain successful regulatory survey outcomes; she has contributed to successful accreditation surveys for TJC, CMS, DNV, and NCQA of organizations with 50 to 900 beds as well as ambulatory practices. She has had nursing directorships for several departments including the emergency department, critical care units, pediatrics, endoscopy suites, medical surgical units, intermediate care units, and rehabilitation units. In addition, she has managed over 30 off-site ambulatory clinics and service lines, including primary and specialty care practices with 250 FTEs and expense budgets of over $5 million.
Nancy has also excelled at developing high-functioning teams. She is a Team STEPPS Master Trainer and she has implemented tools to assist organizations on the path to high reliability. Additionally, Nancy is an accomplished speaker having numerous presentations on quality, risk, high reliability organizations, and the joint commission.
Nancy earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Wayne State University and a Master of Health Services Administration at The University of Michigan, School of Public Health.
Gaelle Diallo
MPH, BScN, CIC
International Infection Prevention and Control and Healthcare Quality Consultant
Gaelle Diallo is an international infection prevention and control and healthcare quality consultant. She received her BScN from the University of Bretagne Sud, France. She is a member of the APIC DC chapter. She began her nursing career in France and moved to England, where she practiced for eight years for the NHS (National Health Services) before relocating to the United States. She obtained her master’s in public health sciences from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, with a focus on infectious diseases.
With experience in Europe, the US, and Africa, Gaelle is dedicated to high-quality patient care, gap analysis, and quality improvement projects. She has extensive experience in acute, critical, long-term care, outpatient services, and behavioral health.
She is passionate about continuously improving processes and educating communities and healthcare workers on best infection prevention and control practices. She stays current on the latest research and developments to ensure that healthcare facilities remain at the forefront of infection prevention efforts.
